Adam Marc Twinley, 44, of Palm City, entered the U.S. in 2013 on a special visa for elite athletes but never left when it expired later that year. Instead, he stayed under the radar—until last October, when he was busted at a gun range with multiple firearms while still in the country illegally.
Federal prosecutors say U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had already been trying to deport him since 2016, but Twinley remained in the U.S. while his removal proceedings dragged on. It wasn’t until agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and ICE discovered him locked and loaded at the range that his luck finally ran out.
Now, a federal jury in Fort Pierce has found him guilty of being an unlawful alien in possession of a firearm, a serious violation of U.S. law.
Authorities, including U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne, ATF Special Agent Christopher A. Robinson, and ICE Interim Field Office Director Juan Agudelo, made the announcement, sending a clear message: illegal possession of firearms won’t be tolerated.
As federal law strictly prohibits illegal immigrants from owning or handling guns, Twinley now faces a harsh reckoning. The question remains—how did he go unnoticed for so long? And what else was he up to while living in the shadows?
